Recently, I found this adorable ribbon at Walmart that looked like one of those fabric tapes that people use when sewing and I thought to myself that this could be a wonderful little item in a doll sewing kit!
I started off with a basket to hold all my items made from popsicle sticks.

Next, using the ribbon I bought, I cut two sides and glued them together.
You can choose to either put a drop of glue on the end of toothpicks and then paint the drop red and the toothpick silver or paint the toothpick silver and then glue on a red bead; these are your pins. A needle can be made by cutting off a little of the toothpick(needles are shorter than pins) and painting it silver.
Balls of yarn can be made by: (you guessed it!) simply wrapping yarn into two little balls. Two toothpicks serve as great knitting/crocheting needles. I chose not to paint mine, but you are welcome to.

Next, cut the rounded ends of two popsicle sticks and glue together. Repeat to make two. Then, glue the ends to each side of a small, rolled up cylinder of paper. Wrap yarn around and glue at the end for a very sophisticated spool of thread.

I made a pin cushion by coloring a small styrafoam ball with red crayon or Sharpie(marker and paint don’t stay on nicely) and then gluing fake leaves to the top for a pin cushion that actually works. However, this did get a little bulky when placing in the basket, so I chose to make a tray out of leftover popsicle sticks; the pin cushion just used for play.

I hope you have fun making this spectacular sewing kit! Stay warm…
